A Moss Flora of Iraq
A Moss Flora of Iraq is the first comprehensive taxonomic treatment of Iraqi mosses. The work is based primarily on bryophyte collections made in Iraq between 1958 and 1963 and incorporates earlier historical records where available. It provides identification keys, detailed descriptions, habitat notes, synonymy, and locality records for 54 genera and 145 species of mosses, the majority of which had not been formally recorded in Iraq before publication. The volume also includes an overview of the history of bryophyte research in the Middle East, along with discussions of Iraqi climate, topography, and soil conditions as they influence moss distribution. Illustrated plates and distribution maps accompany the species descriptions, making the work a foundational reference for Iraqi and regional bryological research.
